From Newcastle & Central Coast (Golden Hwy)
Turn off the Golden Highway just before Sandy Hollow and follow the Bylong Valley Way (Eddie Obeid Way!) through to Rylstone & Mudgee, then into Dubbo via Goolma & Wellington (the Wellington option is a much smoother run).
From Sydney area (Great Western Hwy)
Head off through the Bells Line, then turn off at Lithgow via Mudgee and Wellington
Follow the Great Western Hwy to Bathurst (a quick lap?) & Orange then turn off at Molong via Cumnock & Yeoval and enter Dubbo past the Taronga Western Plains Zoo.
And don’t forget the Putty!
Heading from Canberra & Southern Highlands or The Snowy’s
Head towards Goulburn via Bungendore & Tarago. Follow the Taralga Rd to Shooters Hill Rd then onto Oberon. Meet up with the Great Western Hwy and head through Bathurst or head North to Sofala, Illford & Mudgee.
Heading North from Goulburn, take the Crookwell/Trunkey Creek Rd heading toward Blayney/Orange. This road is now sealed after a few years of preparation and is great on the bike.
Heading from the South along the Newell Hwy
Follow A39/Newell Hwy through Forbes & onto Parkes where you can turn off & head into town via Yeoval & enter Dubbo past the Taronga Western Plains Zoo.
Turn off at Forbes to Bogan Gate, then head via Trundle (widest Main Street I’ve seen!), Tullamore, The Rabbit Trap Hotel at Albert & Trangie or Narromine, coming into town past the Airport and the Westview Drive-In on the Mitchell Hwy.
From the North along the Newell Hwy
Turn Right at the Baradine/Warrumbungles sign at Coonabarabran and head towards Tooraweenah via Siding Spring Observatory and the spectacular Warrumbungles National Park. Grab a quick counter lunch at Tooraweenah Hotel if you have time on the way past. Hit the Newell Hwy again & head into town via Gilgandra.
Turn left towards Mendooran about 10km out of Coonabarabran and then turn Right after Mendooran toward Gilgandra for a couple of roads with enough to keep most riders happy.
From the North via the New England Hwy
Turn left at Nemingha, just North of Tamworth for a detour around past Chaffey Dam towards the 1900’s Gold mining village of Nundle. Jump back onto the NE Hwy for a few km’s and turn Right at Wallabadah towards Quirindi, Spring Ridge, Premer & Coolah where you meet up with the Golden Hwy just before Dunedoo.
Follow the N/E HWY to Mullaley and turn towards Tambar Springs, Coolah & enter the Golden Hwy near Dunedoo.
From the West on the Mitchell Hwy
Call in to Nyngan & check out the ‘Big Bogan’ & the Huey helicopter used in the 1990 floods at Nyngan & the cotton fields & processing ‘Gins’ & irrigation channels around the Nevertire, Trangie & Narromine area.
